You have an Air Fryer Quickly make sweet potato fries. They will be crispy and golden with less fat. A delight!
In this article, I talk to you about sweet potatoes and I give you a quick reminder of what an Air Fryer is with the benefits of this cooking mode. I also give you my best tips for making perfectly crispy sweet potato fries. Also find out what to accompany them with and how to store them.

The recipes are endless with sweet potatoes: in soup, puree, roasted in the oven, as an accompaniment to an oven-roasted chicken… So why not in fries? It’s a great alternative to traditional fries like here in an ultra healthy and tasty version.
Sweet potato is rich in nutrients, notably in vitamins (Vitamin A / beta-carotene) but also vitamins B, C and E; in minerals (potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron) and in fiber.
Be careful, however, here we have a cooking method with little fat but the sweet potato is quite high in calories (approximately 85-120 kcal per 100 g depending on cooking method).
We use the English word Air Fryer which literally translates to air fryer but it corresponds more to what we call an oil-free fryer. The principle of this cooking appliance is touse hot air circulation to cook food.
Unlike classic fryers which immerse food in a bath of hot oil, the Air Fryer allows you to cook with a very small amount of oilor even without any oil at all.
The Air Fryer you see is a Ninja Foodie Max (this is not a sponsored post, just what I have at home).
The benefits of cooking with the Air Fryer are therefore multiple:

To obtain fries that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, it is important to choose nice, firm, blemish-free sweet potatoes.
The classic orange sweet potato is the best known but you can find different varieties of white ones like here where I made a mix of orange sweet potato and white sweet potato and even purple ones.
Cutting sweet potatoes is essential. But don’t worry, nothing complex! The objective is simply to have sticks of more or less identical size for uniform cooking and of size neither too large nor too thin between ½ and 1 cmthe size obviously influencing the cooking time and the result.
You can also make slices or cubes, your choice. The important thing is to have uniform sizes and to adapt the cooking time.
After peeling your sweet potatoes, cut them into slices then lay these slices flat and cut them into sticks. Cut them into evenly sized sticks so they cook evenly.
Some recipes make soak the sweet potatoes in water for around thirty minutes to remove excess starch or pre-cook them beforehand I’m not too in favor of that. On the other hand, it is once the fries are cut dry them with paper towels to remove excess moisture which comes out naturally from your vegetable with absorbent paper or a clean cloth.
In a salad bowl or on a large board or baking tray, place your vegetables season with salt, pepper and spices according to your taste: your choice of paprika, four-spice cumin, Espelette pepper, etc. You can also add granulated garlic. I like to sprinkle herbs from Provence. Add a little oil, tablespoons are enough, and mix so that all sides are covered and seasoned.
You can make a variation with sweet potato of the recipe that I offer you for air fryer carrots to which I add parmesan and a little flour.

Set your air fryer to a temperature of around 180-190°C to cook your fries. Ideally, but it is not obligatory, preheat the Air Fryer a few minutes before putting your vegetables in the basket.
Cooking time depends on the thickness of the fries, but generally, between 15 to 20 minutes is enough for golden, crispy fries.
Above all, do not overload your basket and do not forget to shake the basket halfway cooked or turn and gently mix the fries so that they are evenly browned.
To prevent your sweet potatoes from becoming too toasted or dry it is important to monitor cooking regularly. Ideally start with 10 minutes, mix halfway through cooking and leave for another 10 minutes while monitoring.
If you notice they are starting to brown too much, reduce the temperature a few degrees and adjust the cooking time.
Here are some ideas:
If you have any leftovers, keep them once cooled, put them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. They can also be frozen. Note, however, that they will lose their crispy texture.
