Ham rolled with Boursin Simple aperitif recipe, 2 ingredients

These bites of rolled ham garnished with Boursin are a simple idea ideal for creating a nice effect as an aperitif. 2 ingredients only.
All you have to do is spread the white ham with cheese and make rolls.

I admit I wondered a little whether or not I should post this appetizer recipe because it is so easy and quick.
But in reality, if we have always made these Boursin ham bites (in fact I discovered it at my mother-in-law’s house years ago), I offer this post to you as a reminder because we don’t always think about it. And guaranteed, this recipe always pleases as an aperitif.

Aperitif recipe with only 2 ingredients

White ham and Boursin garlic and herbs are the only two ingredients you need here.

How to prepare these bites:

  • Take the Boursin out of the refrigerator 5 to 10 minutes before starting so that it softens without heating up too much and becoming too soft.
  • Spread the cheese on the ham without covering the edges too much. You will need a block of Boursin for four slices of white ham. Or 1/4 of a 150 g Boursin per slice of ham.
  • Then make a small roll lengthwise, one for each slice of ham.
  • At this stage you can cut slices directly or put the Boursin ham rolls in the refrigerator for a little while so that the preparation is very fresh and cuts clearly without you risking crushing the logs.
  • So make slices of around 1 cm and place them flat in a dish. The Boursin can also stick to the knife to have clean slices, wipe your knife from time to time.

I made a little montage for you with photos to guide you, to be found just before the recipe card.

Tip on cheese temperature: Make sure that the cheese is neither too fresh (this was the case and you can see in the photos of my step-by-step tutorial that it spreads poorly and risks tearing the ham when you try to cover the slice), nor too much at room temperature because then it will be a massacre when you try to cut the slices (or put it back in the refrigerator before cutting.

What are the possible variations for this recipe?

The cheese: You can use any fresh cheese instead of the well-known brand of garlic and herb fresh cheese I mentioned.
Fresh goat’s cheese or fresh cheese such as Philadelphia or Saint Môret that you flavor with your choice of garlic, shallot or chopped onion, dried or fresh herbs like Herbes de Provence or chopped chives, spices like cumin or curry… It’s up to you!

The ham: I tried it once with raw ham, not bad either but the slices of ham being thinner, they hold together less and the ideal ham – Boursin ration is less easy to find.

Or why not slices of cucumber or zucchini?
This recipe reminds me a little of the cucumber rolls with smoked salmon that I made during a culinary demonstration at SIAL, the international agricultural show; and zucchini bites with dried fruit beggar which allowed me to win a competition organized by the CNIEL, the dairy products inter-professional association.

Be careful if your cheese is too hot, you will have difficulty cutting nice slices that do not crush and remain nicely round. It is then better to let the rolls rest for a while in the refrigerator.
To make a clean cut, clean your knife if necessary to remove any Boursin that may remain stuck.
